Ireland, once the booming Celtic Tiger and envy of Europe, is faltering badly. Like Americans, and much more so than those in other European countries, the Irish put gains from their growing wealth into real estate, borrowing to keep building. When the credit crisis struck, this financial edifice tumbled down.
